It is a shame this simple message has been ignored.

I too applaud one of my dogs, Scamp, for coming to me at 3 am on the seashore as I prepared to kill myself by swimming out into the ocean so far that even being an expert endurance surf swimmer I would not be able to get myself back to shore.

I had locked him up so securely at home that I have no idea how he got out, or knew to set out and find me, but he covered me with so much love and kisses my mood broke, I began weeping and when I was calm I made my way home to bed and to sleep. Nobody ever knew.

People don’t always appreciate the level of devotion a dog can exhibit.

Gertrude was rescued from an abusive situation. We took care of her, and she took care of us.

You and I have both had our lives saved by dogs; we have that in common.
